September is the time of year when El Gal and Asia Divers sees the return of the “Animals” It’s been a long time tradition over many years for the Animals to meet up here to celebrate the birthdays of Larry Bird and John Tucker. It’s also a reflective time for a select few as they experience their religious callings. In-between all this they also got to do some incredible diving and enjoy perhaps a drink or two with their good friends.

It’s the beginning of an action packed week for these 50 kids and several teachers. They’ll be kept happily busy and very well fed. In the works for the group are diving lessons, sailing, water sports, hiking, Extreme sports, Golfing, Zip line and community service at Verde Island. Let the games begin!
Asia Divers has charted the Indo Siren for an 11-day trip to Raja Ampat, Papua Indonesia. Dates for the trip are January 20-30, 2018 and the boat has space for 16 divers. We still have spaces left. The price for the 10 nights on Indo Siren is € 4,200 and to confirm space we need € 1,000. The balance is needed 3 months prior departure. Allan, Tommy and a group of friends are on their way across the US on a motorcycle tour. They are stopping and enjoying many interesting places in the country and of course taking in the local cuisine.
It was great to have Vision Divers here with us again. Mostly from Melbourne Australia, Vision Divers have been visiting us for at least 10 years, and always have a great time. Scott, Kaite, Dave,Rob, Emma and Eliz all carried on that tradition . All the usual activities were at hand, including a great day out at Verde Island. There were lots of critter sightings on our local dives, including an encounter with an eagle ray on their final dive. Of course Vision are no wimps when it comes to post diving activities, so the Point Bar is always the venue of choice. We are really glad the new look Point Bar got the seal of approval from these guys. See you next time!
Notable people missing from the trip were, Pete Webster and his Mrs Deb Lord who could not attend this visit. We missed you!
Congratulations to Scott Brickell for getting his PADI Open Water certification this weekend. Scott did his Scuba Diver course in 2011 and felt it was about time for an upgrade! On Sunday Scott did his 4th dive with Alli who happened to be on her dive number 11,111!
It’s Asia Divers 30th Anniversary this year as many of you know by now, but it is also anniversaries for these three ladies. We had a small party in the Point Bar to celebrate a many years spent working here at El Galleon/Asia Divers. Rhuby 24 years, Angie 20 years and Alli 20 years. Time has flown by!
The annual Dive Show in the Philippines is taking place this coming weekend, September 8-10th at SM Megatrade hall, Manila. Tommy along with the Ocean Dive Supply team will be there together with Cressi as previous years and Alli will be in the Department of Tourism both representing Asia Diver/El Galleon.
