Summer Scuba diving

Another great week down here in Puerto Galera, a few thunder storms here and there but really good diving has prevailed.

Congratulations to Chieneke, Sanne and Sjoerd on completing their PADI OW course in such a wonderful location. The Philippines has amazing corals and beautiful marine life and Asia Divers in Puerto Galera is in the heart of the coral triangle.

Torstein and Hilde Hansen from Norway have been in Puerto Galera, scuba diving for three weeks and having a great diving holiday. They’ve completed their PADI Rescue/EFR courses had some fantastic dives and achieved their 300 dive milestone. We’ve had so much fun with these guys and hope that we see them again soon. Well done on the course and make sure you wear your special Asia Divers T-shirts with pride!

Congratulations to our newest certified Divemaster

jul16d4Congratulations to Ross McLeod on completion of his PADI Divemaster course. Ross has spent the last month doing EFR Rescue and finally DM. He’s done a splendid job with his DM training and been a great help around the shop on his internship. His DM party at the Point Bar on Saturday night was one of the best for a while, hosted by Mum and Dad, AKA Sarah & Ham, who made sure there was plenty of drinks and food for all. To cap it all Ross knocked back 5 beers on his snorkel test, followed shortly by a not too shabby 38 second Stairway to Hell shooter challenge. Well Done Ross!

Family Fun!

jul16d2

The Orange family rocked this week by completing their Open Water course and Project AWARE specialty course for Diane, Adelaide and Emily while Alex taking the advantage of the beautiful weather for free diving and hash run. To top it up, a Dive Against Debris at Verde Island was carried out by Team Orange, Troy and Chen. Please carry on passing the knowledge of Project AWARE in Hong Kong!

Diving duo

jul16c9

It was very nice to have a father and son diving duo, Bert and Vic Janssens diving with us last week. Bert is a writer for Belgium magazine called “Hippo Campus” so we look forward to seeing us in there real soon.  We have a lot of divers coming here from Belgium and hope to see many more!

Go Pro at Asia Divers

jul16c6

Chen Wang is back here to do her Instructor Internship after becoming a PADI instructor at Asia Divers back in May. She has already been assisting on several courses including with Emjay above, who did a “Discover Scuba”. Asia Divers offers a one month internship included to everyone who does their IDC with us. It’s a great way to gain lots of practical experience working right along with the instructor team here. Contact us as instructors@asiadivers.com if you’re ready to “Go Pro at Asia Divers”

Canadians do more than just play hockey!

jul16c1

It was a fun time having this wonderful group from Canada with us and a chance for Alli brush up on her Canadian eh?! Most came from Edmonton area, but there were a couple from Ottawa and also from Quebec. A bit of a change from those cold lakes up there! They all got to experience the best of Puerto Galera including some lovely sunny calm days, beautiful colourful reefs, and some different underwater creatures. Highlight of the trip was Verde Island. Thanks to Kirby Feng, the group leader and to Fly & Sea Dive Adventures for organizing this trip here.

“Doc” Michael Chatenay and James Stewart both celebrated their birthdays with us.

Way to go Edison Chan for earning your Advanced Open Water on your recent trip to Asia Divers!

A chip off the old block!~

Congratulations to Jacques Collins for coming “home” to do his PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses with Ruben at Asia Divers this past week.
jul16b1Jacques dad, Terry Collins did his Divemaster course with us along with another DM candidate Chris Viers back in 1997 and they haven’t seen each other since, but after connecting on FB they agreed to meet up ASAP. So when Jacques decided to visit the Philippines to visit the province with his Mum, Terry and Chris set a date to meet up in PG. Jacques was named after Jacques Cousteau who sadly died a few months after Jacques born.jul16b2

He was destined to become an Asia Diver from birth! The last visit to PG was when he was only 2 years old. Check out these photos of us from 1997 and the other one which was recreated this trip after he passed his Advanced Open Water course. Same location, same pose! It was wonderful to see you all back here again and hope it won’t be another 18 years…
